Blessed Jesintho Vera was a lay Catholic known for his deep faith, humility, and service to the poor in southern India. He is remembered as a devoted man of prayer and action, whose life continues to inspire local Christian communities.

Blessed Jesintho Vera was born on March 19, 1941, in a small village in Tamil Nadu, India. Raised in a devout Catholic family, Jesintho displayed an early love for God and the Church. As he grew older, he became known for his deep compassion toward the marginalized and his consistent service to the sick, elderly, and orphans. He worked as a school teacher and catechist, using his position to educate children not only in academics but also in the values of faith, love, and honesty.

Jesintho was deeply committed to Eucharistic adoration and was often found in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, drawing strength and direction from Christ. He was active in parish life, organizing youth groups, visiting the poor, and encouraging devotion to the Sacred Heart and Our Lady. His humble and joyful presence made a lasting impact on everyone who met him.

On July 3, 1970, Jesintho Vera died unexpectedly at the age of 29. After his death, reports of favors and healings through his intercession began to emerge. Local communities began venerating him as a holy man, and eventually, steps toward his beatification were initiated. Although not officially canonized by the Vatican, he is widely honored in regional Catholic traditions as “Blessed Jesintho Vera,” a servant of God and a model of lay holiness.
