"St. Anna, pray for us to have patience and faith, and to always trust in God's plan for us. Help us to serve Him with devotion and love. Amen."
ST. ANNA THE PROPHETESS
Saint Anna the Prophetess was a devout widow and prophetess who recognized Jesus as the Messiah when He was presented in the Temple. Her steadfast worship and prayer mark her as a model of faith and devotion in Scripture.
St. Anna the Prophetess appears in the Gospel of Luke (Luke 2:36–38) as a holy woman who lived at the Temple in Jerusalem. A member of the tribe of Asher, Anna was married for only seven years before being widowed. Instead of remarrying, she devoted her life to prayer, fasting, and worship in the Temple for many decades.
When Mary and Joseph brought the infant Jesus to the Temple for His presentation, Anna immediately recognized Him as the promised Messiah. Her proclamation to others in the Temple reflected her prophetic insight and deep spiritual connection to God. Anna is one of the few named female prophets in the Bible, symbolizing hope, vigilance, and faithful expectation of the coming of Christ.
Though her story is brief, Anna’s example endures as a testament to the spiritual power of perseverance, contemplation, and trust in God's promises.
"St. Anna, pray for us to have patience and faith, and to always trust in God's plan for us. Help us to serve Him with devotion and love. Amen."
