Saint Cannera, also known as Saint Conaire, was an Irish holy woman who lived during the 5th or 6th century. Her life is primarily documented in the "Life of St. Senan," which recounts her journey to Scattery Island. Upon arrival, she was denied entry by St. Senan and his monks, as their chastity vows prohibited contact with women. Despite this, she argued for the equal redemption of women through Christ. Although not allowed beyond the shore, she was given communion before passing away and was buried on the island, with her grave marked by a simple flag. Her feast day is celebrated on January 28.
